The club marks fifty years of the community in the Emirates

Five decades after the first gathering in Dubai, the general secretariat opens a year of events across the seven emirates.

The Sudanese Social Club has opened a year of events marking half a century since the community first gathered under its name in Dubai.

The programme runs across all seven emirates and is built around the club's own secretariats: cultural evenings, health days, sports fixtures, and an honouring ceremony for the community's graduates.

What is planned

The general secretariat has asked each branch to propose one event of its own, so the year reflects the whole community rather than Dubai alone. Proposals close at the end of the month.

The club is the house of Sudanese people in this country. Fifty years on, that has not changed.

Families holding photographs, letters or programmes from the club's earlier decades are asked to bring them to the office in Oud Metha. The media secretariat is assembling an archive, and copies will be returned the same day.

Dates for each event will be published on this page as the secretariats confirm them.
